Portfolios

Portfolios can be very useful to both the student and the teacher. It allows both people to track the student's progress and see if there's anything that the student needs to do to improve in a certain area. It is also useful to see what past assignments the student has done and what they have learned. Portfolios can be beneficial for teachers because it can help them to know a little more about the students and how they learn in a classroom.

What kind of presenter am I?

I am the type of presenter that has to be well prepared before making a presentation. Usually I like to have a set of notecards handy just in case I forget something or go off topic. I like to sound very enthusiastic about the topic I'm presenting so that my audience will not be uninterested or fall asleep. Sometimes I like to ask questions to my audience and start up a discussion with them just to see if they are listening or to hear what they have to say. Having the audience engaged would make them stay alert and more interested in your presentation. I believe that maintaining eye contact with your audience allows you to stay connected with your audience and make them feel like you're talking directly at them. Also, I believe that speaking slowly and articulately allows my audience to understand what I am saying. Speaking really fast lets the audience know that you are nervous and may not pay attention to what you have to say.

Evaluating Textbooks

I believe that evaluating textbooks is very important. Evaluating textbooks ensures that the material presented is accurate and appropriate for students. It also helps to determine whether or not a textbook is at the correct reading level for the students so that they may understand the material. I believe that it is important that textbooks have lots of visuals such as pictures, diagrams, and maps so that it keeps the student interested in learning about the subject. A textbook that challenges the student with critical thinking questions is very important as well. It gives the student the chance to fully think about the material and interpret it in their own way. Finally, a textbook that also includes fun project ideas for each lesson can be very beneficial to the student. It would keep the students engaged as well as have fun and show their creative sides. I believe that if a textbook fulfills all these requirements, then it is a good textbook.
